 أخوي شاف السر، شاف السر، كان حا يبوح

My brother discovered the secret, discovered the secret, he was going to reveal it!

 أخوي جوّا الموج، جوّا الموج عم بينوح

My brother is in the waves, in the waves.. wailing!!

 والصيادين نائمين

And the fishermen are asleep.

 يا بحر رجعلي، رجعلي أخوي

Oh sea! Return to me my brother! Return to me my brother!

 الموج سرقلي، سرقلي أخوي

The waves have robbed me, robbed of me my brother!

 أخدته حد البحر، خلي المياه تطهره

I brought him to the shore to let the waters cleanse him!

 أخدته حد البحر، دبغت الموج بدمه

I brought him to the shore, I dyed the waves with his blood.

 والصيادين غافلين، خامدين، نائمين

And the fishermen are unaware, silent, sleeping.

 أخوي مع الحورية، رجعوه لي الموج أخدلي أخوي، رجعوه

My brother is with mermaids… return him to me… the waves took my brother… return him to me!

باح يبوح also to uncover

ناح ينوح to weep, wail, lament

دبغ to tan

غافل to be unaware, inattentive

خامد  silent, subsiding
